The Marshall Islands parliament has passed its fiscal year 2012 national budget of 132 million US dollars.

On Tuesday an information exchange agreement was signed with the Marshall Islands. The new agreement is part of a campaign led by the Nordic Council of Ministers and is part of a targeted and long-term co-operation between the Nordic countries to put an end to tax evasion.

The governments of Australia and the Marshall Islands have signed a tax information exchange agreement (TIEA). The TIEA provides for exchange of information, on request, in both criminal and civil matters.

The Assistant Treasurer, Senator Nick Sherry, today announced that Australia has signed a bilateral tax treaty with the Marshall Islands for the exchange of tax information.
