National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn said Sunday that the Trump administration’s proposed tax on offshore profits would be in the “10 percent range.”

The House of Representatives in American Samoa has approved the Administration Bill which would establish a one per cent alternative minimum business tax.

In a latest development, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has levied a tax of 0.5% on all the e-commerce companies which are operating in Pakistan. The tax is imposed on businesses which are being operated online. The tax has quietly come into effect from 1st July 2017.

A member of the American Samoan government’s Revenue Task Force says 87 percent of local businesses do not pay taxes. The revelation came at a hearing by the House Economic Development Committee and Budget and Appropriations Committee on a bill to establish a one percent alternative minimum business tax.
